From my initial call to Solar Edge Protection to the job being completed, everything was carried out efficiently & professionally. The boys did a great job and tidied any mess up too. I'd had a really bad pigeon squatting problem under my panels but this was taken care of and my panels were cleaned, gutters and slates were cleared too. Problem solved and the roof looks great, no longer ashamed to look at it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company. Thank you.

  Top quality solar panel maintenance
We were very impressed with the efficiency and professionalism of the team from Solar Edge. Tommy and his colleagues replaced the defective bird-proofing on our solar panels, and cleared out the pigeon nest debris from underneath. At every stage they were happy to explain what they were doing, and they completed the work in about an hour. We would be very happy to use them again - though of course we don't expect to need to for a few years!

Solar Panel Bird Proofing Edinburgh

Solar panel bird proofing is when you have material fitted around the trims of solar panels that prevent birds from getting underneath and potentially nesting.

Solar Panel Edge Protection Ltd are Scotland’s leading solar bird, pigeon and pest proofing service, providing a long lasting robust solution with a 10 year guarantee.

If the birds decide to nest under your panels, this is what causes them to linger around your solar panels and create lots of noise, disruption and mess.

When you find debris from bird nests scattered across your roof and garden, with droppings everywhere, it’s likely your roof and solar panels have been taken hostage by nesting birds, most likely pigeons. Solar panels offer heat and a safe harbour to the birds from weather and predators.

Each year, the damage caused by nesting to solar panels amounts in millions of pounds in Scotland alone. Your solar panels and PV system is under threat, so is your wiring, your roof’s drainage system, and most importantly, your health.

Let us help you maintain your solar panels and solar PV system by offering the best solar panel bird proofing solution available in the UK today. Clean solar panels means maximum solar yield and a much cleaner roof means your home looks far better.

Solar Panel Edge Protection Ltd are a team of experienced and vetted solar professionals, we have installed thousands of our 100% guaranteed solar edge bird proofing kits across Scotland including in Edinburgh and the East Coast area. We guarantee to stop birds nesting under your solar panels first time for the long term.

"Highly recommended, professional and knowledgeable. Birdproofing fitted to an awkward 19 panel array. Good price and communications, turned up on time, explained the job, moved the panels to close gaps, cleaned panels and gutters, and solid birdproofing fitted that looks a high quality finish. In an industry that doesn't have the best reputation , I would trust and recommend this company."

Solar Panel Bird Proofing Edinburgh Cost

The cost for installing solar panel bird proofing in Edinburgh varies depending on how many panels you have in your array. Bird proofing prices in Edinburgh start from £620 +VAT, if you call us with the number of panels you have, we will provide you with an accurate cost on the phone. This includes cleaning and a professional inspection of your solar panels, reporting back any maintenance or repairs that are required.

We will also clear your gutters on the area of your roof where your panels are installed.

"We recently got several quotes for pest removal (pigeons and squirrels) and pest-proofing from under our solar panels. Solar Panel Edge Protection Ltd were knowledgeable and organised. We got a quote over the phone by supplying a couple of photos by text. We were then booked in with an appointment for panels to be fitted within a few days. The two professionals who installed the edging carefully cleaned out the pest nesting materials, installed the neat, flush edging panels and cleaned out the gutters. They were polite and respectful (wearing face coverings etc.). The panels are solid, black edging, which is neatly cut to size (more visually-appealing than meshes offered by other companies) and look like they are part of the original unit. Cost was slightly more than other quotes, but those other companies we spoke to only provided unsightly mesh and did not remove the nesting materials. Solar Panel Edge Protection Ltd, by contrast removed the nests and also offered to check the wiring had not been damaged by the pests, checked the inverter in our attic and provided a full clean of the panels within the price. So, overall value offered was great! Invoicing was issued promptly and professionally through an automated system which let us download a pdf for record. We are very happy with the experience and would highly recommend!"

"come out on such a very wet and windy day. But they came out nice and early and went straigh to work. Solar panels were cleaned of moss and debris from birds and blocked off. The bous cleaned up everything and were polite, friendly and nothing was a problem. Highly recommend them"

"After a few years of putting up with the early morning bird tap dancing on the roof , constant cleaning of the side path due to bird toilet habits and a few times scrambling on the roof myself to try solutions for the problem I took the plunge and looked for a pro company to solve the problem. I will be honest and didnt know anything about this company prior to the work and choosing them was just a search in local area. But i was not dissapointed , guys were polite , professional and tidy . The job looks great , birds have nearly all gone and as far as price goes (I have nothing to compare against so wont go into detail) I am more than happy for what I paid for the service I got . Wouldnt hesitate to recommend"

"This style of pigeon proofing is FAR superior to the standard wire proofing methods I've seen elsewhere, it actually blends into the panels and looks like it's part of the system! Very discreet. The workmen were polite, friendly and knew their stuff. They arrived on time and completed the job within the timescales given. We are really delighted with the job they did and we've already had very positive comments from friends and neighbours. I'd have no hesitation at all in recommending this company. Thanks guys!"

"A couple of lovely guys did a good job getting rid of the pigeons from under my solar panels and made sure that they don’t come back! They also cleared the gutters afterwards. Would recommend."

"Had our solar panels bird proofed yesterday. The guys were really nice and explained what they were doing, they were very professional. They cleaned the panels & the gutters and tidied up completely after themselves. Great price too! Pigeons are raging 😁😁"

"The guys came on time and did a super job. Quality of material is very very good and I would highly recommend this company to protect your solar panels from flying vermin. Today the pigeons are looking for a new home!! superb!!"

Solar Bird Proofing Edinburgh November 2022

This job we completed in November 2022 in Edinburgh is a perfect example of cheap and ineffective solar panel bird proofing causing more damage in the long term, costing the customer more money and their roof becoming a potential fire hazard!

This Edinburgh homeowner had two companies fit three different kinds of solar bird proofing including:

Chicken Wire

Solar Bird Mesh

Gutter Brushes

On the images below you can see for yourself how messy things got because if birds getting underneath their solar panels and nesting. The birds nest became a some kind of small forrest with branches coming through the panels and some disgusting conditions underneath them!

Solar Panel Edge Protection Ltd’s expert bird proofing have dealt with lots of jobs like this and knew exactly what was needed to get rid of the pigeons for good!

First of all we removed all of the solar panels, removing all debris and cleaning, the mess included bird poo and mud that filled 12 buckets!

We then checked all the connections on the solar panels fitting new ones where required.

Removed all bird nests (none of which where live) cleaning the solar panels, surround roof area and gutters, then re-statin the solar panels with solar edge protection bird proofing.

Bird and Pigeon Proofing in Edinburgh

DON'T PAY TWICE

Mesh, Wire, Spikes and Other In-effective Bird Proofing

Solar Panel Edge Protection Ltd has been installing solar panel bird proofing for some time now and we started to loose count of the amount of jobs we have had to replace solar panel bird mesh, wire, spikes and other materials.

Poor installation and the Scottish weather are the most common causes of failed bird proofing.

Let’s not forget the determination of birds to nest and protect their young, they will peck and do whatever it takes to dislodge these materials.

Don’t pay twice, get rid of birds first time with our solar edge protection bird proofing that comes with a full 10 year guarantee.

Don’t just take our word for it, see the feedback from our customers, with literally hundreds more from previous years that we unfortunately lost from our original Google listing.

Please note, we do install spikes to prevent birds perching on roofs and around panels. Spikes are effective in certain situations and in some cases to compliment other bird proofing in more severe cases.

Cheap & Ineffective Solar Panel Bird Proofing

Chicken Wire

The cheapest and least effective methods of solar panel bird proofing is chicken wire. It doesn’t last, the birds can still get through it often within a short space of time.

Solar Panel Mesh

Although robust and made from galvanised steel, solar panel mesh looks terrible and often it won’t survive Scottish weather, especially the harsh winters.

Solar Panel Bird Netting

Much like solar panel mesh, bird netting looks terrible and often it won’t survive Scottish weather conditions. Bird netting will also collect a huge amount of bird mess and nest debris.

Stainless Steel Bird Spikes

The obvious flaw with stainless steel solar panel bird spikes is the small gaps. Bird spikes are very dangerous for the welfare of the pigeons, who will continue to make it their mission in life to get through the tiny gap, especially if they believe there is young left behind. Solar panel bird spikes are however an effective method to stop birds and pigeons perching on the corners of your roof.

"So glad that the job has been done to excellent standards and I am satisficed that the company that I was advised to go with has paid off big time."

Issues Caused By Birds Nesting Under Your Solar Panels

In the Scottish landscape, solar panels are a perfect site for roosting and nesting. Birds use the residual space for shelter and warmth, and you might end up living with an everyday nuisance. From the noise to damage, nesting is the root of many significant problems.

The scratchy noise over your head can drive even the calmest to distraction. With the bird infestation, your roof might sound like a battlefront amidst all the shrieking and cooing. Birds love to live in flocks, and there might be no end to the new birds joining in.

The accumulation of nesting material and dropping can create hotspots which are eventually going to lead to solar cell failure. Bird droppings are acidic, and heaps of it can expedite the corrosion of the Aluminum frame. Not only is your roof going to look nasty, but any contact with the droppings can also cause severe infections due to pathogens in it.

Nesting material and droppings can block your drainage system, creating weak spots, which eventually leads to leaks. Birds attract other pests including rodents and squirrels. These critters chew up the solar panel wiring, which can cause short circuits and rooftop fires.

We can help you clean up and inspect the panels along with the wiring for any damage. Our expert team will make sure that all the paneling components are in place before calling it a day. Contact us today to discuss the best suited solar panel bird proofing solutions for your property. Our team is glad to assist.
