Solar meters come handy while estimating the productivity of your PV system. The solar meter records the electrical readings using integrated CTs (Current Transformers). If you have a net meter, it will show you the net consumption of the power. A net meter is not going to tell you the amount of solar electricity that was pushed out to the grid, or the amount of regular electricity that was used from the grid. It will indicate the difference between these two. If you are producing more energy than you are using, the Net meter will run backwards.
Bi-directional meters come with three screens. The first screen displays the light indicators. The second screen displays information about the power coming in from the grid. A third screen displays information about the power supply going to the grid.
Dual Metering is a setup of two meters that work independently. One meter gives you information about the amount of electricity you take from utility and second meter indicates the amount of electricity you send to the utility.
